Supply of Tax Free Vehicles & Hybrids

There is much to consider when purchasing vehicles in the UK for export to Africa. The UK vehicle market can appear full of opportunity with a plentiful supply of RHD cars and commercial vehicles.

However there are many pitfalls for the unwary, particularly with regards to the fairly used markets.

Here the buyer needs to be mindful of the vehicles history and whether it is suitable for export. You should consider whether it has suffered accident damage or been written off by the insurance company, if it has any outstanding finance, has been previously stolen and whether you can verify the vehicles mileage?

Importantly will it be possible to recover the tax on the vehicle which can typically save the export buyer 20% off the purchase price?

Ocean Systems (UK) Ltd is a specialist export company. We have been successfully supplying both new and fairly used vehicles into Africa including Ghana, Namibia, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Uganda, Zambia & Zimbabwe for over 15 years. We are recognised by the UK Trade & Investment Department as experts in Trade throughout this region. We understand which vehicles are suited to meet the needs of the local African markets and we understand how to source the best vehicles to meet these needs.

Vehicle Acquisition

The sourcing of our vehicles be they saloon cars, pickups, light or heavy commercial plant follows the same proven process.

Importantly we do not operate as agents for other dealers stock. The vehicles we sell are the vehicles we own.

Firstly our cars must be suitable for export, generally for newer vehicles this means that we can supply them free of tax. We must be able to verify the mileage, that they are free of any incumbent finance, that there is a service history and have suffered no accident damage.

Every car is inspected prior to purchase, tested by our engineers and an accurate condition report generated. If you or your local import legislation requires a specialist inspection, please let us know and we can arrange this for you.

Typically we will purchase stock against our international buyers requirements. To assist this process we have sourcing arrangements with the major finance & leasing companies, UK trade auction houses and franchise dealerships which gives us direct access to preferential quality trade stock.

For overseas dealers (agents) purchasing in excess of 5 vehicles per month we provide a unique buying service which offers privileged access to our buying process. We spend time to get to know your requirements and a weekly report is generated detailing suitable vehicles. We offer complete pricing transparency and surprisingly to many of our dealers this report details our purchase costs as well as the expected landed price at destination.

For buyers purchasing less frequently we still offer the same proven buying process with the added advantage of working via one of our established country agents. We currently have agents in Ghana, Namibia, The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Botswana.

Ocean Freight & Insurance

We invest a great deal of time ensuring that our transport services are second to none.

We are proud to work with some of the UK’s finest freight forwarders and shipping companies who collectively ensure our freight arrives on time and in the same condition it left the UK.

The majority of our vehicle freight is sent via specialist Roll On, Roll Off (RoRo) shipping Lines.

However we also offer containerised services which have the added benefit of being able to ship other goods with your vehicle in a secure environment. This is where Ocean Systems unique procurement model comes in to play. We often work in tandem with our in house procurement teams to supply a wide range of products including computers, generators and electrical fittings which can dramatically reduce the overall freight cost per item and provide an unexpected bonus to the buyer.

During the previous 15 years our consistently high volume of trade into Africa ensures we always offer superb freight rates for your consignment.

All our freight is sent fully insured against a marine transport insurance policy which is underwritten by Lloyds of London.
